  • Are you looking to supplement your income by taking on additional pain science-related work that can fit flexibly within your schedule?

EFIC are seeking one or more ‘Research Project Assistants’ to support its growing portfolio of research activities.

Current activities requiring support include:

  • Supporting EFIC’s role within EU-funded research and educational projects, including dissemination activities, coordinating work-packages, organizing workshops and surveys, assisting with literature reviews and expert consultations.
  • Supporting the development of EFIC’s contribution to proposals for research and educational projects and background work to facilitate an expanded role for EFIC in future
  • Supporting EFIC’s educational activities, namely the EFIC Academy and the educational basis for the e-learning tools and examination content
  • Serving as a host of webinars for the EFIC Academy, acting as a presenter and moderator capable of reflecting on the scientific content of the presentations

Person specification – essential:

  • Passionate researcher, student or research-interested clinician
  • Interested in pain-related research with a capability to engage on a broad range of pain science topics in relation to the activities above
  • Flexible and willing to expand their skillset beyond standard research activities (e.g. project management, science communication, event organisation, presentation skills)
  • Team player who is able to engage with the wider EFIC team and support their work
  • Excellent written and spoken English – additional languages and advantage
  • Flexible working schedule that allows EFIC work to be undertaken within a Monday-Friday time-frame – enabling communication with other team members – it would be difficult to foresee this role being possible if you are working a standard 9-5 schedule from Monday to Friday.
  • Willingness to see an advantage in supporting EFIC’s research projects beyond the personal advantage provided to the individual.
  • Competent in use of technology to support remote work (OneDrive, Teams, Zoom etc)

Person specification – desirable:

  • Experience in grant application writing and familiarity with EU funding schemes an advantage
  • Familiarity with EFIC’s educational work an advantage
  • Experience with Moodle an advantage

 
Salary and conditions:

  • There are no fixed hour for the role, though we expect an average of 4-8 hours/week initially.
  • The role will be based on a services contract basis, either for a self-employed person or to be paid to the individual’s employer for their services provided.
  • The hourly rate will be provided in line with published salary scales for researchers (to be discussed in interview).
  • The role will be based on remote working, though travel will be possible for work meetings when needed.
  • Line management will come from EFIC’s Research Projects Advisor and Executive Director.
