Pain is an important aspect of the cancer experience for many patients. Pain is a burden for many cancer survivors, while living with cancerous tumours and the strain of chemotherapy are both themselves usually painful endeavours. For these reason, the European Pain Federation EFIC is a strong advocate for improved cancer care and for the pain component of cancer care to be taken seriously.
EFIC are joining thousands of other supporters in celebrating World Cancer Day 2020, the 20th anniversary of the campaign. World Cancer Day aims to highlight urgent needs for cancer care and cancer patients. This year the campaign asks for all parties to take whatever action they deem possible – big or small – as it will create a lasting, positive change. For its part, EFIC are working with the European CanCer Organisation (ECCO) to try to improve cancer care standards in Europe. We will update you as work in this field progresses.
