Strengthening collaboration with SIP
The National Association of Pain Medicine of Armenia (NAPM Armenia) is pleased to report its successful and steadily expanding collaboration with the Societal Impact of Pain (SIP) initiative. In this context, we have de facto established the SIP–Armenia platform and are continuing its institutional development to strengthen national advocacy and multidisciplinary collaboration in the field of pain medicine.
As part of these efforts, SIP–Armenia will also be represented at the upcoming SIP event at the European Parliament in Brussels this November, where Armenia will contribute to the European dialogue on improving pain care and related health policies.
Yerevan Pain Days 2K26 & 2nd AICPM
From 4–6 December 2026, Armenia will host Yerevan Pain Days 2K26 together with the 2nd Armenian International Congress on Pain Medicine (AICPM).
Building on the success of the inaugural congress, this year’s event will once again bring together leading Armenian and international experts, clinicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals to exchange knowledge, promote multidisciplinary collaboration, and further advance pain medicine in Armenia and beyond.

2027 National Congress
SED 2027 National Congress will take place in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on the 12-13-14 of May.
Switzerland
Neuropathic pain remains difficult to define, measure, and treat. Despite advances in neurobiology, the link between mechanisms, diagnosis, and outcomes is often unclear. This congress addresses that gap directly: The programme starts with current perspectives on central processing and neurophysiology, including how neuropathic pain is represented in the brain. It then moves towards clinical questions: which treatments work, in whom, and under which conditions. The role of social factors is explicitly included, reflecting their relevance for prognosis and treatment response.
The second part of the programme broadens the perspective to reflect the clinical diversity of pain conditions and their management. Our distinguished speakers will address specific pain syndromes, such as orofacial pain, alongside targeted therapeutic approaches, including the use of botulinum toxin. Contributions from psychiatry and paediatric pain, including CRPS in children, further highlight the heterogeneity of patient populations and challenge simplified classifications.
A joint Swiss–French session closes the meeting and emphasises the need for shared clinical and scientific frameworks. The format throughout the day is deliberately focused: short lectures, case-based discussion, and exchange across disciplines.

Ukraine
The Ukrainian Association for the Study of Pain (UASP) held Spring Pain School on 23-25 April 2026 at Kosyno in the Zakarpattia region of western Ukraine. The three-day educational event was organized with the support of the European Pain Federation EFIC and brought together almost one hundred physicians from all over Ukraine.
Across three days, participants attended plenary lectures, a practical workshop and extended discussion sessions, presenting their own clinical cases and receiving second opinions from faculty and colleagues.
The school was opened with a video address by Professor Luis Garcia-Larrea, President of the European Pain Federation EFIC, who welcomed the participants on behalf of the Federation.
The opening plenary session, moderated by Dr. Volodymyr Romanenko (Kyiv) and Dr. Andrii Sabovchyk (Uzhhorod), covered pain mechanisms as the basis for treatment choice, a practical approach to the diagnosis of neuropathic pain, the pelvis as a hidden source of leg pain and weakness, and digital tools for rehabilitation in Ukraine – those already working and those in development.
Then the program continued with a lecture by Prof. Mykhailo Oros (Uzhhorod) on the diagnosis and treatment of painful muscle spasm. It was followed by a practical workshop by Prof. Andreas Goebel from Liverpool, United Kingdom, who traveled to Ukraine to deliver the workshop in person. His participation was made possible by the support of the European Pain Federation EFIC. The workshop addressed the new diagnostic criteria and management of complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), current knowledge on the role of the immune system in CRPS and fibromyalgia syndrome, and new horizons in the treatment of both conditions, including recently published results from his research group.
The closing session presented updates in pain medicine of practical value for clinicians, the possibilities of interventional therapy for phantom limb pain – a topic of particular relevance for Ukraine today – and a lecture on visceral pain, the microbiome and the gut–brain axis.
The Spring Pain School is a long-standing tradition of UASP that was resumed after a pause caused by the full-scale war. The venue in Zakarpattia – behind the mountains and far from the regions most affected by air alerts – gave participants not only an academic program but also a rare chance to rest and recover in a safe, natural environment.
“For three days, colleagues from every corner of Ukraine could focus on science, ask questions, discuss difficult patients and simply breathe. The support of the European Pain Federation made possible bringing world-class expertise to Ukrainian doctors in person,” said Dr. Volodymyr Romanenko.
Lithuania
The Lithuanian Association for the Study of Pain, together with its Baltic partners, will host the 9th Baltic Pain Congress on 20–21 November 2026 in Vilnius, Lithuania (Radisson Blu Hotel Lietuva).
The congress brings together pain specialists from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and beyond to discuss advances in the classification, diagnosis and evaluation of pain, as well as education in pain medicine and other key clinical topics. The scientific programme is currently being finalised, with keynote lectures and sessions led by recognised experts in the field.
In addition to the scientific programme, the congress will include social events such as a Gala Dinner at the Vaidilos Theatre in Vilnius, offering further opportunities for networking among pain clinicians and researchers from the Baltic region.

EFIC members and national pain society members from across Europe are warmly encouraged to join this regional meeting and contribute to the growing collaboration in pain medicine in the Baltic states.
