In September 2026, the EFIC Council held its Executive Board elections. Prof. Esther Pogatzki-Zahn also formally took office as EFIC President for 2026-2029. The Council had elected her as President-Elect in 2024. Read more about her presidency.
Two Board members were re-elected. Joanne O’Brien Kelly stays on the Executive Board in a new role as Honorary Secretary, and Daniele Battelli was re-elected as Member at Large. The Council also welcomed Roger Knaggs to the Board as a new Member at Large. Please find a brief statement from him below:
“It is a privilege to join the European Pain Federation EFIC Executive Board as a Member at Large. EFIC plays a vital role in advancing pain research, education, and clinical practice across Europe. Working with colleagues from across Europe to improve the lives of people living with pain is an exciting opportunity. Together with fellow Board members, I look forward to supporting the advancement of pain science, education, and advocacy, while ensuring that the voices of patients and healthcare professionals continue to shape our priorities. I am particularly committed to strengthening multidisciplinary collaboration, supporting the next generation of pain professionals, and ensuring that access to high-quality evidence-based pain management remains a priority throughout Europe.”
