The European Pain Federation EFIC is saddened and alarmed at the ongoing situation in the Ukraine. We represent 38 European chapters of the International Association for the Study of Pain including valued colleagues in the Ukraine and Russia. As a non-governmental organisation we function independently and are non-political.
We are against any form of physical or psychological violence and truly hope that there is an immediate end to this conflict.
We encourage members to contribute to appeals from international agencies providing humanitarian support to all those injured, displaced and who are bearing the cost of this conflict.
The European pain community should be prepared for displaced Ukrainians seeking medical care; we cannot leave them without access to effective pain management. As an organisation we will stand with and support our colleagues in the Ukrainian Pain Society.
