The EFIC Rising Stars Programme is a new initiative to connect and support early career researchers in the European pain field. As part of this programme, we are launching the monthly ECR Coffee Club.
What is the Coffee Club? An informal, welcoming space to meet peers, share ideas and experiences, and grow your European research network. Join a relaxed session with your future collaborators, colleagues, conference buddies, and friends. Discuss scientific and day-to-day challenges or successes and build your international network.
Who can join? Any early career researcher (primarily PhDs and postdocs, but all are welcome).
When? The last Tuesday of the month at 12:00 CET for 45 minutes. The next session will be on 30 June 2026 and take place on Zoom. News and updates will be shared through email, social media, and the EFIC Discord Community. Please note – this is the last ECR Coffee Chat taking place until September 2026, as we will be taking off July and August.
What do I need to prepare? Your favourite beverage! Nothing else is required.
What will we talk about? Each session will revolve around a central theme, but we can talk about whatever we want. If you have a topic you’d like to see included, let us know and we can incorporate it. Each session will begin with an introduction to the theme followed by approximately 40 minutes discussions. Our theme for June 2026: “If I wasn’t a scientist”. In academia, we dedicate all our energy to a highly specialised field, but almost everyone has a secret fallback dream. Join us at the next ERC Coffee Club to discuss the ultimate hypothetical question: what job would you have if you weren’t in research? Come along to share stories about the paths you didn’t take, find out about your peers’ hidden talents, and meet the people behind the science.
Do I need to pay? No, participation is free.
