Academy Group Rates

Are you looking to purchase access to the EFIC Academy for a large group of people? (e.g. a hospital or University department)

EFIC provide group registration discounts for any group who register collectively via one payment. We price the group discount relative to the size of the group:

  • Group of 5-20 – 10% discount
  • Group of 21-100 – 20% discount
  • Group of 101-500 – 30% discount
  • Group of >500 – 50% discount

Individual Academy registration category rates are priced according to tiers e.g. qualified physicians pay 145 euros per year (excl. VAT), while students pay 35 euros per year (excl. VAT). The total payment would be based on the size of the group x the registration category rate applied. If your group is composed of individuals from more than one registration category (e.g. a multidisciplinary pain team), then a flat rate of 95 euros (excl. VAT) would be applied x the size of the group.

If you are interested in a group registration, please contact Academy@EFIC.org

What is EFIC?
The European Pain Federation EFIC is a multidisciplinary professional organization in the field of pain research and medicine, consisting of the 39 European Chapters of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) and representing some 20,000 physicians, nurses, scientists, psychologists, physiotherapists, and other health care professionals involved in pain medicine.

Why 'EFIC' when your full name is the European Pain Federation?
'EFIC' refers to our previous name, 'the European Federation of IASP Chapters'. We felt that this name was confusing, as it did not refer to our primary interest; pain. Our name is the European Pain Federation, though we maintain the old acronym EFIC, as many people knew us previously as EFIC.

What are the main aims of the European Pain Federation EFIC?
The Federation's aims are to advance research, education, clinical management and professional practice related to pain, and to serve as an authoritative, scientific resource concerning policy issues related to pain and its management.

How do I become a member of the European Pain Federation EFIC?
Every member of a European IASP Chapter is automatically also a member of the European Pain Federation EFIC. Those who do not have an IASP Chapter in their country, or who wish to benefit from a direct relationship with the Federation can look into becoming a member of the EFIC Academy.

What is the International Association for the Study of Pain?
The International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) is the global professional forum for science, practice, and education in the field of pain. The European Pain Federation represents IASP Chapters in Europe. Further information can be found here.

What are the national Chapters?
Details of all national Chapters of the European Pain Federation EFIC can be found here.

How can I form a European Pain Federation EFIC Chapter?
To form a national Chapter you must first contact IASP to become an IASP Chapter. Once this has been established you can send an official letter to the European Pain Federation EFIC requesting membership as a Chapter.

What is the European Pain Federation Academy?
The EFIC Academy is the primary educational programme of the European Pain Federation EFIC, where members can benefit from the most high quality educational materials based primarily on the EFIC post-graduate curricula. The EFIC Academy benefits from the highest standard of educational and scientific input from its dedicated multiprofessional Academy Board. Please note that EFIC Academy membership does not constitute ‘ordinary membership of EFIC’. Academy members do not have voting rights at the annual general meeting of EFIC. You can find out more about the EFIC Academy and apply for membership here.

If I am an ‘Academy member’ does that make me an ‘EFIC member’?
No. EFIC is a Federation of IASP chapters, meaning its ordinary members are our national chapter organisations. Only our national chapters and their ‘Councillors’ have voting rights in at the annual general meeting. We recommend that EFIC Academy members also become members of their national pain society and the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP).

Where can I view the terms of the EFIC Academy?
The terms can be viewed here: https://europeanpainfederation.eu/how-we-work/privacy-policy/

Which medical disciplines and healthcare professions can apply for EFIC Academy Membership?
All individual healthcare professionals and researchers looking for high quality pain education provided by EFIC are invited to join the EFIC Academy. At present, we have dedicated content streams targeted at physicians, physiotherapists, psychologists and nurses.

What will I receive as an Academy Member?
Current benefits include:

  • Access to a year-round EFIC online learning calendar, including Micro-Events, Educational Series, Flipped Classroom sessions and Learning Journeys.
  • Access to the annual EFIC Virtual Pain Education Summit as a key milestone within the continuous programme.
  • Reduced fees for the EFIC Congress "Pain in Europe". A 10% reduction of the registration fee (excluded VAT) is available to all EFIC Academy members.
  • Reduced fees for the EFIC exams. A 25% reduction of the examination fees (excluded VAT) is available to all EFIC Academy members.
  • Open access to the EFIC Academy Education Platform (on-demand learning pathways, clinical cases and recordings).
  • Open access to the European Journal of Pain.

Is there accreditation for the content on the platform?
Yes! EFIC has received accreditation from UEMS-EACCME for many of the medical modules on the education platform. To receive credits, learners must ‘complete’ the module, including viewing all videos, reading the compulsory reading material, completing the associated quiz and providing learner feedback. After this has been done, a certificate is automatically generated.

What is the price of EFIC Academy membership?
The price for EFIC Academy membership and all benefits provided can be found here. All prices for EFIC Academy membership are annual payments in EUR, including tax where applicable.

What does EFIC online education look like in 2026?
EFIC Academy is evolving from long, one-off virtual events to a continuous learning ecosystem designed for post-COVID learning behaviour and busy clinical schedules. Education is delivered through shorter, clinically focused sessions, multi-week learning pathways and structured learning journeys — supported by on-demand access on the Education Platform.

Which learning formats are included?
Members can access Micro-Events (60–90 minutes), Educational Series (4–6 weeks), Flipped Classroom sessions, and 8–12 week Learning Journeys with certificates — alongside the annual Virtual Pain Education Summit as a key milestone within the wider calendar.

How do live and on-demand learning work together?
On-demand content supports flexible preparation and revision, while live sessions focus on clinical discussion, cases and Q&A.

Is the Virtual Pain Education Summit a scientific congress?
The Virtual Pain Education Summit is an educational meeting aligned with EFIC education curricula. It is designed to support clinically relevant, multidisciplinary learning.

How has the Summit evolved?
In 2026 and beyond, the Summit is positioned as a yearly highlight within EFIC’s continuous education calendar. Sessions are designed for shorter, high-impact learning with on-demand access available after the event.

Who is the Summit for?
The Summit is relevant for healthcare professionals involved in pain management and supports interdisciplinary practice through integrated learning rather than parallel, siloed tracks.

What is the European Pain Federation EFIC Congress?
The biennial European Pain Federation EFIC Congress, known also as 'Pain in Europe' is the most important international scientific forum on pain issues in Europe. Information on the next congress can be found: here.
