The European Pain Federation EFIC has opened the application process for the 2020 EFIC Pain Schools. This year the schools will take place in Klagenfurt and Liverpool. The EFIC Pain Schools are a series of interactive teaching courses, taking place over 4-5 days, targeted at healthcare professionals interested in further developing their knowledge and expertise in the field of pain management.
The European Pain Federation offers 15 places at each School free-of-charge.
We have two Pain Schools taking place this year:
- EFIC Pain School on Basic in Pain Medicine in Klagenfurt, 6-11 September 2020
- EFIC Pain School on Cancer Pain and Palliative Care in Liverpool, 6-9 October 2020
The EFIC Pain School on Basic in Pain Medicine in Klagenfurt (Austria) is focused on: basic knowledge of pain physiology and pharmacology, anamnesis of chronic pain patients, basics of psychological pain therapy and interdisciplinary multimodal therapy. Basics of therapy for acute pain, tumor pain, headache, neuropathic pain, musculoskeletal pain, and visceral pain. All pain syndromes are interactively discussed and deepened in the course based on case studies. Download the whole program here.
The EFIC Pain School on Cancer and Palliative Care in Liverpool (UK) is focused on: skills for assessing and treating pain related to cancer and its treatment. Developing an evidence-based approach to assessment, formulating diagnoses and designing a comprehensive management plan including pain management. The emphasis is on a multidisciplinary approach to managing pain related to cancer. Download the whole program here.
Application process
Candidates should apply via EFIC centrally, or via their EFIC national chapter. The application form should be accompanied by proof of medical qualification, professional referees and proof of English language competence. Applications are reviewed by the EFIC Education Committee. Full details can be found here.
It is important that the letter of recommendation states clearly why a candidate is suitable for the School.
The deadline for applications is 30 April 2020.
