In 2021, under the umbrella of the European Pain Federation (EFIC), a gathering of nine European scientific societies and a leading patients’ organisation published new clinical recommendations for opioid use in treating chronic non-cancer pain (CNCP). The full paper can be found here.

Opioid prescriptions have increased over the past decade in some European countries which has caused concerns. The recommendations therefore aim to provide safer and more effective care for people with CNCP, to improve communication between clinicians and people with chronic pain about the benefits and harms of using prescription opioids for chronic pain, and to give guidance to doctors on appropriate opioid use as well as decrease harmful opioid use.

We are now looking for volunteers who are interested in translating a summary of the recommendations in other European languages in order to help us disseminate this vital information even further.

Please find the summary in English here.

If you wish to support us with translation, please send an email to research@efic.org stating the language you wish to translate it into. Please note the following languages have already been covered: Spanish, Polish, Italian
