#EFIC2023 Abstract Submission

• Three main categories: B (basic research), T (translational), C (clinical). 
• Abstracts will be grouped by sub-categories and topics.

• Only accepted abstracts of fully registered presenters will be included in the final scientific programme.  
• The presenting authors are expected to attend the Congress in person and present their poster presentation.  
• Presenters are requested to settle their registration payment by Friday, 11 August 2023. 

• All abstracts submitted online will be reviewed by the Scientific Programme Committee. 
• The submitter should be the presenting author unless indicated in the form. The submitter must ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract.
• Abstracts should be submitted via the online submission system only; abstracts submitted by fax or email will NOT be reviewed. 
• Abstracts must be received by the announced deadline. Abstracts received after the deadline will NOT be considered. 
• All abstracts must be submitted and presented in clear English with accurate grammar and spelling of a quality suitable for publication. 
• The content of the abstract should NOT have been previously published in a journal or presented at an international meetings prior to Pain in Europe XIII.
• To correct an abstract that has already been submitted or to submit another abstract, please use the log-in and password which you received when you submitted your original abstract. This will enable you to access the previously submitted abstract/s or to submit an additional abstract/s.  
• After your abstract submission, you will be sent an automatic email confirming your successful submission. If you do NOT receive this confirmation email, please contact efic-scientific@kit-group.org 

PREPARATION GUIDELINES

Abstracts must be submitted in English with accurate grammar and spelling of a quality suitable for publication. If you need help, please arrange for the review of your abstract by a colleague who is a native English speaker, by a university scientific publications office (or other similar facility) or by a copy editor, prior to submission.

Before you begin, please prepare the following information:

1. Presenting author’s information: (please note that the presenting author’s contact information (name and email address) will be used for further contact and verification of registration.)
   • Full name
   • Academic tittle and field of practice
   • Contact information (affiliation, email address, telephone number)
   • Number of years since PhD (< or ≥ 5 years)
2. Author and co-authors’ details:
   • Full name
   • Academic title and field of practice
   • Contact information (affiliation, email address, telephone number)
   • Number of years since PhD (< or ≥ 5 years)

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

1. Presentation type: Poster
2. Abstract title – limited to 25 words in UPPER CASE
3. Abstract body – limited to 250 words, including acknowledgements. (Please note: word count is affected when graphs/tables/images are included. We recommend using word-processing software, for example, Microsoft Word, for editing your abstract and counting the number of words.
4. Abstracts should be structured as shown below: (Abstracts that are not conforming to this structure will be rejected.) 
   • Background and aims
   • Methods
   • Results
   • Conclusions
5. Use only standard abbreviations. Place special or unusual abbreviations in parentheses after the full word appears the first time.
6. Use generic names of drugs. Express numbers as numerals.
7. Abstract Topics – abstracts will be grouped into scientific/medical topics in accordance with the list of main topics. Please use the appropriate fields in the abstract submission form to list the topic most suited to your abstract. Although we will try to honour your preferences, this cannot be guaranteed. To preview the topics, please click here​.
8. Tables – A maximum of 3 tables of up to 10 rows x 10 columns can be included per abstract.
9. Graphs and images – Pictures/Graphs: Authors can include a maximum of 3 pictures/graphs. The maximum file size of each picture/graph is 500 KB.
   The maximum pixel size of the graph/picture is 600(w) x 800(h) pixels.
   You can upload graphs and images in JPG, PNG and GIF format only.

Selected paper posters are presented in guided poster walks in the Poster Area during the lunch break. Chairs will lead a group of interested people around selected posters. During the walk, presenters will have a few minutes to present and answer questions. 

• Are you interested in participating in a poster walk?
• Does your abstract have an industry perspective?
• Do you wish to be eligible for a poster prize?
• If selected, would you like to give an oral presentation* in addition to the poster presentation?

*Oral presentation will be held on the first day of the Congress: Wednesday, September 20 2023.

Disclosure of financial relationships that the author(s) may have with the manufacturer/supplier of any commercial products or services related to the work should be indicated in the appropriate box on the abstract form. 

All abstracts will undergo review by Scientific Programme Committee. The Scientific Programme Committee will decide the final method of presentation. Notifications regarding status for late-breaking abstract submissions will be sent in mid-July 2023.

The European Pain Federation EFIC has limited funding to provide aid to applicants from low resource and currency restricted countries. The financial aid coverage varies and may include accommodation, possible help in costs towards travel and daily expenses. Find out more and apply here.

As the European Pain Federation EFIC aims to encourage communication and collaboration at European level, applicants from European countries will be prioritized. However, applications from outside of Europe will also be considered. Candidates presenting a poster will be highly ranked. Those from developing countries will be also be given preference, however all applications will be considered on their individual merit and reasons given. You will require support from your head of department.

Financial aid application is now closed. Applicants will be notified in March 2023.
