Abstract submissions are open for the EFIC Congress, taking place in Glasgow on 21-23 April 2027.

To better accommodate the full spectrum of pain science and multidisciplinary care, ranging from fundamental research to clinical practice and work-in-progress, the scientific committee has introduced three distinct submission types for this year’s congress:

1. Abstract Format (Completed research studies)

Designed for original scientific research with completed data and available statistical results at the time of submission. This category encompasses randomised controlled trials, observational studies, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, pre-clinical/animal studies, qualitative research, and completed economic evaluations.

2. Case Report / Case Series (Practice- & case-based submissions)

Created specifically to highlight practice-based learning, novel treatment insights, and clinical observations. Submissions in this category allow clinicians and researchers to share individual or small series of clinical cases, unexpected mechanisms or adverse effects, and case-derived guidelines.

3. Project / Protocol / Data Analysis Plan Report (Work in progress)

A forward-looking category tailored for ongoing studies, planned trials, data analysis plans, service audits, quality improvement projects, and educational initiatives. Final data is not required, allowing investigators to present study designs, methodology, and anticipated scientific or clinical impact.
