The European Pain Federation EFIC would like to thank Marian Harkin MEP for her tireless work in raising awareness of pain at a European level. After supporting the Societal Impact of Pain for many years, she is now stepping down from the European Parliament. We can honestly say that Marian has been crucial to our campaign, and has brought clinicians and patients closer to the EU decision making process through her work. We wish her well for whatever is coming next.

The “Societal Impact of Pain” (SIP) is an international platform created in 2009 as a joint initiative of the European Pain Federation EFIC® and the pharmaceutical company Grünenthal GmbH and aims to;

  • raise awareness of the relevance of the impact that pain has on our societies, health and economic systems
  • exchange information and sharing best-practices across all member states of the European Union
  • develop and foster European-wide policy strategies & activities for an improved pain care in Europe.
