Throughout 2026, SIP Portugal has continued to strengthen its role in advocating for people living with chronic pain through policy discussions, awareness campaigns, and participation in national events.
On 29 May, SIP Portugal held its Forum, “Chronic Pain: Shared Responsibility, Integrated Response”, in Lisbon, bringing together policymakers, healthcare professionals, social partners, and patient associations. The discussions highlighted three key priorities: implementing ICD-11, developing integrated care pathways, and strengthening social and employment protection for people living with pain.
To mark the Portuguese National Day Against Pain, held this year on 16 October, SIP Portugal launched “A Dor Não Tem Idade” (“Pain Has No Age”), a campaign featuring short videos from its partner patient associations.
The campaign highlights a simple but important message: chronic pain can affect people at any stage of life and deserves to be recognised at every age.
