Join us at the European Parliament for an in-depth discussion on chronic pain, employment and economic competitiveness. This event, hosted by MEP Jerković and organised by both MEP Jerković and the Societal Impact of Pain (SIP) Platform, is a call to action for EU and national policymakers to recognise chronic pain as a labour market and competitiveness challenge. Together, we will explore how targeted EU action can better support individuals living with pain, enabling them to remain active, thrive, and participate fully in working life.

It will convene policymakers, researchers, clinicians, and patient advocates to explore how the EU can scale up preventive action on one of Europe’s most prevalent and costly health conditions.

Attendees will also witness the presentation of SIP’s Joint Statement on Employment and the Economic Considerations of Pain, which serves as the platform’s central theme for 2026. Through expert panels and collaborative dialogue, we will examine how European and national decision-makers can take decisive, concrete action to implement these recommendations, ultimately supporting people living with pain to successfully remain in or return to the workforce.
