The Report from the SIP event, “Pain Treatment, Management, and Prevention – Is Europe Providing Adequate Access?” is now available!

Hosted on 16th October 2024 in Brussels, the event brought together policymakers, pain specialists, and patient advocates to tackle pressing issues in pain management across Europe. The discussion emphasised critical barriers to accessing pain treatment, including shortages of essential medicines, inconsistencies in implementing comprehensive pain care across member states, and technical barriers linked to European regulations.

With experts from the European Parliament and healthcare professionals leading the conversation, the event underscored the urgent need for improved policies and comprehensive pain care, including adequate and equitable access to pain treatment, and the role of prevention strategies, amongst others. The event also marked the launch of the European Day on Pain Awareness, aimed at raising the visibility of chronic pain issues and advocating for better access to care.

The full event Report and video Report, as well as other event materials, are now available here. Be sure to check everything out to learn more about the main takeaways and future actions to improve pain care in Europe.
