SIP Advocacy Toolkit Training in Italy – Report from the Event
The Societal Impact of Pain (SIP) platform is pleased to share updates from the first national roll-out of the Advocacy Toolkit in Italy, held on 29 May 2026 in Rome.
The training aimed to strengthen awareness of pain and support the development of more coordinated and effective pain policies across Europe.
It was designed as a practical, step-by-step resource for national stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, patient representatives, researchers, and institutional actors. It supports both countries establishing a new SIP National Platform and existing national networks seeking to further structure and align their advocacy efforts with SIP at European level.
In the Italian context, the session built on the country’s long-standing experience in pain advocacy and recognised existing legislative and clinical efforts. At the same time, the training helped position SIP as a structured way to connect national advocacy work with the wider European SIP framework, by offering tools, clearer coordination between actors, and continued support from the European level.
The meeting brought together a broad range of stakeholders from clinical governance, academia, patient organisations, public administration, and professional associations, reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of pain advocacy.
We would like to thank all participants for joining us and look forward to the next steps and further developments following this meeting.
