How to prepare for the EDPP

Core Curriculum

The Examination for the European Diploma in Pain Physiotherapy (EDPP) is based on the accompanying Core Curriculum. The best place to start when preparing for the Examination is to read the Core Curriculum to ensure that your professional experience and knowledge reflect the Curriculum headings and competencies necessary for the attainment of the diploma.

Reading materials

The European Pain Federation has provided a suggested (not mandatory) reading list which you may find useful to complement your clinical experience and training.  The list was updated in February 2020 and will not be updated before the 2020 Examination.

Video lectures

As well as the Core Curriculum and reading materials, you should also consider joining the EFIC Education Platform. The video content on this platform is derived from our Congress refresher courses and Pain Schools and includes some of the topics included in the  Core Curriculum. We do not expect you to prepare by watching all of these videos, though they may serve as a refresher on key subjects. In addition, we have curated a selection of videos from the Education Platform specifically designed to aid preparation for the EDPP. You can find these videos here.

Congress Refresher Courses

If you plan to attend a Congress of the European Pain Federation EFIC, we recommend you attend the refresher courses. The refresher courses are developed in line with the Core Curriculum and will serve as a good ‘prep course’ for potential Examination attendees. A specific EDPP track will be highlighted for attendees to follow.

We organized a webinar for potential attendees on the 6th of February 2019 at 17:00 CET. It reviews the different sections of the examination, giving guidance on the format, and what is expected of attendees. The webinar can be viewed here.
