From 20 to 24 October 2025, the Societal Impact of Pain (SIP) joins the European Week for Safety and Health at Work, the annual awareness campaign led by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA).
This year’s theme, “Safe and healthy work in the digital age,” explores how digital technologies – including artificial intelligence, automation, and remote work – are reshaping the world of work across Europe. The campaign underlines the importance of ensuring that these transformations foster safety, inclusion, and wellbeing for all workers.
SIP has been a long-standing supporter of this initiative, consistently advocating for policies that recognise the interconnection between pain, health, and employment. While digitalisation can open up new opportunities for people living with chronic pain – for example, by enabling more flexible and accessible work – it also presents challenges related to ergonomics, workload, and psychosocial risks.
In its Position Paper on Workplace Integration and Adaptation, SIP calls on European institutions, national governments, and employers to take stronger action in creating supportive workplaces where people affected by pain can remain in or return to work safely.
By aligning with EU-OSHA’s campaign, EFIC reaffirms its commitment to promoting healthy, adaptable, and inclusive workplaces where innovation and wellbeing go hand in hand.
