The European Pain Federation EFIC is pleased to share recent news and updates from our national chapters below.

UK

Dear friends and colleagues,

Welcome to the first BPS Chapter news in 2025. The British Pain Society welcomes the opportunity to provide an update on our recent, current and future works which we hope will be of significant interest to the EFIC community.

Plans for the Annual Scientific Meeting, taking place from the 3rd to 5th of June at the ICC Wales, are well underway and have been picking up pace over the last few weeks. It promises to be a meeting that demonstrates the many facets of pain management with an outstanding multidisciplinary faculty. In addition to the BPS and Patrick Wall lectures, the plenary sessions will include topics such as women’s health and inequalities in accessing pain services. There was a record number of workshop submissions, which created much discussion and dilemmas for the Scientific Programme Committee. However, there really should be something for everybody in the programme. Please note that member rates are valid for British Pain Society and Welsh Pain Society members.

Late-Breaking Abstract Submission is open now only for poster presentations, allowing you to share your most recent advancements with a distinguished audience of experts, clinicians, and researchers. Deadline to submit is April 4, 2025.

We are delighted to announce that the ASM will be immediately preceded on 3rd June 2025 by an Education Day, including:

If you are registered for the annual scientific meeting registration for Education Day is free of charge.

We would also like to inform you that in 2024, we launched the Student and Early Career Membership category, supporting emerging pain professionals – providing a host of benefits for only £25/ year. Over 25 new members joined so far! Join us here. Student and Early Career members also receive a reduced rate for the ASM.

The Patient Voice Committee of the British Pain Society has changed their name to The Expert Patient and Carer Committee (EPCC). EPCC is a group of people with lived experience of pain, and their carers, providing invaluable insights to ensure that patient and carer perspectives shape the BPS’s work.

Finally, if you missed our recent webinars, we would like to inform you that the recordings are available via the BPS youtube channel.

We look forward to seeing all those, who can attend the ASM this year, at the ICC in June.
