The Pixibook of Chronic Pain:
Chronic pain can be complex and challenging to grasp, especially within a biomedical framework. To address this, SIP Denmark has developed the Pixibook, available as a video, print, and digital resource, which explains chronic pain in a simple, accessible format. The goal is to break away from the outdated, dualistic view that ties chronic pain exclusively to either psychological or physical causes. Even healthcare professionals can benefit from this tool to gain a more holistic understanding.

Lack of Cross-Sectoral Efforts and Coordination:
Chronic pain requires coordinated action across health, social, and employment sectors. Unfortunately, despite being invited to participate in the national pain plan, neither the Danish Social Services Authority nor the Danish Labor Market Agency prioritised their involvement. This is in contradiction to recommendations calling for more interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration. SIP Denmark continues to push for greater cooperation across these sectors to improve chronic pain management.

Chronic Pain on the Agenda:
At a recent meeting organised by Medicin.dk, SIP Denmark presented the patient’s perspective on chronic pain to an audience of 200 healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and physiotherapists. This engagement aims to ensure that chronic pain remains a priority in the medical community, improving care and awareness across all levels of the healthcare system.
