The Societal Impact of Pain (SIP) Platform is pleased to announce the release of our Position Paper on Preventive Healthcare for Chronic Pain.

Despite the burden of chronic pain, it remains under-recognised and underfunded. Treatments often provide only short-term relief, failing to prevent the progression to long-term disability. Prevention of chronic pain is not only a public health imperative, it is a social and economic necessity. Early action can lower the risk and impact of chronic pain, improve health equity, and strengthen the long-term sustainability of Europe’s healthcare systems.

This position paper highlights the importance of prevention and presents key policy recommendations for EU and national policymakers.
