SIP Denmark Announces New Article on Patient Inclusion and Individualised Healthcare

SIP Denmark is pleased to announce the publication of a new article exploring the potential and practicalities of patient inclusion and individualised healthcare: “Patient inclusion, shared decision-making and individualised healthcare – between ideals and reality.”

In addition to highlighting the potential benefits at both personal and societal levels, the author, Lars Bye Møller, emphasises the urgent need to integrate these principles in light of the two-fold demographic pressure of increasing life expectancy and a number of chronic diseases, putting pressure on the healthcare system.

The article also highlights insights from a recent roundtable discussion with Professor Victor Montori on the importance of understanding patients’ lived experiences and co-creating individualised care plans.
Nonetheless, integrating these principles faces significant challenges even though they are widely supported due to both ethical and better self-management and treatment outcomes.

The article is authored by Lars Bye Møller, who has lived with chronic pain for over 25 years and volunteers with FAKS, the Danish Association for People with Chronic Pain.

Together with other patient representatives, Lars works to raise awareness of pain both nationally and internationally through the multi-stakeholder platform SIP (Societal Impact of Pain), led by the European Pain Federation (EFIC) and Pain Alliance Europe (PAE).
