2 March 2026 | Nottwil & Online

SIP Switzerland is pleased to announce its third national SIP Switzerland meeting, taking place on 2 March 2026 at the Swiss Paraplegic Centre in Nottwil and online.

This year’s meeting will focus on ICD-11: Opportunities and Perspectives for Chronic Pain. With the introduction of ICD-11, chronic pain is defined for the first time as a disease in its own right. This represents a major step forward, opening new perspectives for improved data collection, diagnosis, care pathways, and potentially more efficient and cost-effective healthcare models.

A truly multi-stakeholder dialogue

The meeting will bring together a broad range of perspectives, reflecting the mission of the Societal Impact of Pain (SIP) platform to connect healthcare professionals, patients, payers, and policymakers. Contributions will include:

  • Patient perspective: Representation from Rheumaliga Schweiz, a leading self-help and patient organisation

  • Policy perspective: A representative from the Federal Statistical Office, involved in the national Digisanté project

  • Reimbursement perspective: SwissDRG, responsible for inpatient reimbursement

  • Clinical and professional perspectives:

    • The President of the Swiss Pain Society

    • The Head of a Swiss pain department

Together, participants will discuss how ICD-11 can support better recognition of chronic pain and contribute to improved care models in Switzerland.

Leadership transition

This meeting will also mark an important transition for SIP Switzerland. With this event, Dr André Ljutow, MSc will hand over his SIP Switzerland responsibilities to Prof. Emmanuelle Opsommer (Haute École de Santé Vaud, Lausanne), who will take on the leadership of SIP Switzerland going forward.
