What is the Global and European Year Against Pain?
Since 2001, European Pain Federation EFIC® has held a centrally coordinated event named ‘The European Week Against Pain’ (EWAP). The 1st European Week against Pain was launched in the European Parliament. From 2012 onwards, the event was known as Global Year Against Pain and ‘European Year Against Pain’ (EYAP) in Europe, with a centrally coordinated annual theme. The International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) with the collaboration of the European Pain Federation EFIC® provides briefing packs and factsheets on the designated theme, so that a general message can be unified globally and across Europe. National Chapters of EFIC and IASP hold activities to gain attention amongst the medical community, the general public, and local media.
What is happening in 2020?
2020 year’s theme will be pain prevention. The topic of our On The Move Presidential campaign, pain prevention through physical activity, will feed into 2020 year against pain campaign. We look forward to build on our work to date to further advance the important message of pain prevention. Beyond physical activity the content of the GYAP and EYAP 2020 will touch upon primary prevention, nutrition and prevention, patient-centered prevention and many other themes!
While we will come back with the official campaign launch in early 2020, we would like to send out a call to our community to get involved in the campaign.
