The EFIC Rising Stars Programme is a new initiative to connect and support early career researchers in the European pain field. As part of this programme, we are launching a webinar series called “EFIC Rising Stars Skills Lab: Soft Skills for Hard Science”.
What is the Skills Lab?
A new quarterly webinar series designed to help early career researchers strengthen the essential professional skills that support a successful research career. Each session offers practical insights into communication, collaboration, leadership, project management, and career development – the key soft skills that make hard science possible.
Who can join?
Any early career researcher working in the pain field (primarily PhDs and postdocs, but all are welcome).
When?
The series will run four times a year. The first webinar will take place on 4 March 2026 and will introduce the Skills Lab’s aims, format, and opportunities for participants. Dates and registration details will be shared through email, social media, and the EFIC Discord Community.
What do I need to prepare?
Nothing – just bring yourself and a willingness to learn. All sessions are designed to be accessible, interactive, and directly relevant to your day-to-day professional growth.
What will we talk about?
Each webinar will focus on one soft-skill topic. Expect expert-led insights, practical tools you can apply immediately, and opportunities to engage with peers facing similar challenges. If there is a topic you would like us to cover, let us know and we will consider it for a future session.
Do I need to pay?
No, participation in the Skills Lab is free.
If you are a senior researcher reading this, please share this opportunity with your early career colleagues – your support helps them build strong, confident, and sustainable research careers.
