Finland

First of all, greetings from the Finnish Pain Society to all other chapters.

The year 2022 is the association’s 26th year of operation. The aim of the association’s activities is to develop multidisciplinary and versatile pain research and treatment in Finland. The association seeks to influence issues and opinions related to pain management in society. We want to make the societal impact of pain more visible.

The councils of the association will plan and organize nationwide multi-professional pain management training days for health care professionals and in-depth pain training with profession-specific training. In order to increase the number of participants in the trainings, it is necessary to make the trainings more attractive by changing the forms of training from mere ordinary lectures to more diverse ones, such as the “hands-on” type. Promoting networking among pain management professionals is also one of the key goals of the association’s activities. The challenge for the coming period is to adapt to the changes during and after the corona epidemic.

We are planning a Finnish pain congress for the end of march. If we take the current Corona situation into account, it will probably be a hybrid congress.

When providing training and assessment assistance, the association provides special qualifications related to pain medicine and strives to make the study of pain medicine more popular among the Finnish medical and dental profession. The association will support expert training in pain for psychologists, physiotherapists and nurses.

The association has open websites with closed membership pages. In addition, the association has a closed Facebook group.

The association supports pain research by announcing grants to members.

Cooperation with the IASP, EFIC / SIP, and SASP will continue and efforts will be made to improve it.
