In 2025, the EDPN exam will be offered in German and English. It will take place in two parts:
- Part 1 – a multiple-choice question (MCQ) examination – virtually using the EFIC Academy Education platform
- Part 2 – a viva examination – taking place in person in Salzburg, Austria on 12 September 2025

The EDPN aims to establish a harmonised understanding of specialist pain management nursing across Europe. It offers a qualification accessible to all European nurses, as well as those outside of Europe. Moreover, it provides a valuable qualification in regions where a national equivalent is not available.
