We are delighted to announce that the next EFIC Congress will take place in Glasgow, United Kingdom, from 21–23 April 2027. Under the theme “Building Bridges in Pain: Thriving Through Communication”, #EFIC2027 will bring together leading voices in pain science, education, and clinical practice for three days of learning, exchange, and collaboration.
Despite continuous progress in pain classification, assessment, and treatment, the translation of scientific knowledge into clinical application remains a pressing challenge. The 2027 Congress will address this gap by fostering meaningful communication across the spectrum: from researchers to clinicians, from patients to policymakers, and from cells and systems to society as a whole.
A timely and unifying theme
#EFIC2027 will explore the many layers of communication as a foundation for progress in pain research and care. This includes not only dialogue between scientists and healthcare providers, but also exchanges with patients, families, and stakeholders. Communication as a biological process—between cells, brain areas, and body systems—will also be central, reflecting the complex pathways that can become dysfunctional and may be restored.
Multidisciplinary by design
The EFIC Congress is Europe’s leading multidisciplinary pain meeting, and 2027 will be no exception. Basic researchers, clinical investigators, physicians, allied health professionals, and early career experts will all find space for joint reflection and discussion across specialties, methodologies, and settings.
Translating knowledge into action
A central focus of #EFIC2027 will be how to move insights from lab to bedside more effectively. Sessions will highlight innovations in translational research, implementation science, study design, and interprofessional collaboration – ensuring that knowledge generated is clinically meaningful and patient-relevant.
A platform for mutual learning
Researchers and clinicians bring unique insights to the field of pain. The 2027 Congress will provide opportunities for shared learning, ensuring that clinical realities inform research priorities and that scientific discoveries translate into improved outcomes for people living with pain.
Join us in Glasgow in April 2027 to build bridges, strengthen collaboration, and shape a more integrated future for pain research and care.
Save the date: 21–23 April 2027 – we look forward to welcoming you to #EFIC2027!
