European Mental Health Week, organised by Mental Health Europe, takes place from May 13-19 2024 aiming to raise awareness about the importance of mental health in our everyday lives.

This year, the theme is ‘BETTER TOGETHER: Co-Creating the Future of Mental Health’, advocating for a collaborative approach between various parts (patients, charitable organisations, professionals, policymakers and decisionmakers) to enable better mental health for everyone. With a bottom-up perspective, the campaign puts people’s real needs as inspiration towards various solutions including paths to recovery, mental healthcare improvement, and social inclusion.

The European Pain Federation EFIC Academy Education platform has numerous modules for physicians, physiotherapists, nurses, and psychologists on the assessment and treatment of mental health problems across different conditions.

Furthermore, the next EFIC Congress 2025 – Pain in Europe XIV is themed on ‘Comorbidity of chronic pain and mental health disorders: Breaking the cycle‘. Chronic pain and mental health disorders are frequently correlated and need to be treated adequately, stressing the importance of multidisciplinary in healthcare and enhancing the quality of life, physical and mental, of patients. Our Scientific Programme Committee is putting together a comprehensive and diverse programme, covering a wide range of disciplines, from cutting-edge research to clinical practice.

EFIC is also part of the HaPpY (Comorbidty of Chronic Pain and mood disorders: breaking the vicious cycle) Research Network funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.
